So my 258Qs arrived today from Newegg.
I was pretty happy with the size of my 27" so I was apprehensive about going smaller and my initial impression was that the 25" was too small. However, after getting all 3 set up and doing some work (on 2) and then playing with NV Surround, I am very happy.
The main problem right now is that I can't really place them as close as I would like until I get a tri mount.
Here are my first impressions:
Even less subjective ghosting than my LG 27" that I thought had no ghosting.
Very vivid, it seems like I can see better on these
Thin bezels
Very easy to cycle inputs - this is good because I will be running my work laptop on some of the inputs and my home PC on DVI
The DVI cables are too short - I had to go buy a 10ft DVI cable to make the far one reach the PC (which is about 20 inches from the closest monitor
No display port cables - bummer as I could use them with my laptop.
NV Surround is very easy get going - almost no issues at all except a CTD in BFBC2
Had to turn the settings down to get good performance I initially turned them down too much.
No dead pixels.
I am happy, in general, with the performance I am getting, but I can see how I will want more - to get smooth game play, I have to play using upper mid or lower high settings. It's not bad, but I miss playing with all the eye candy maxed out and having max frame rates.
The reviews on Newegg can be ambiguous, but these are matte screens with glossy bezels - this does not bother me.
I still kind of wish I had gotten the 27", but my wife thinks this is excessive on pretty much every level as it is. I am keeping these.
