I am pretty much set between 3 AGP cards to upgrade my system at the moment. I have a P4 OC to 3.2, 1g pc3200, Raptor 74GB hd, and a 9800 non-pro working right now.

I pretty much know I need an upgrade just for the heck of it to get maximum performance in games as sometime my frames drop too low for me. I can get a X850XT for $355 after rebate through ATI so I'm pretty sure the rebate will go through. Or I can just hit up the Egg and get a 6800GT or X800pro for about $300.

Here is the big question, Is the $55 bucks a worthwhile upgrade to get the X850XT over the other two cards performance wise of course? Trying to get an apples to apples comparison so exclude PS3.0 of the GT. Thanks in advance.

i would go with the x850xt only if your monitor can do 1600x1200. you would be waisting your money on buying the card if your limited to 1280x1024. at 1280x1024 the 6800 GT is king followed by the x800 xl.

it really is a close call between the high end cards it comes down to preference in the end

like ati? x800 xl
like nvidia? 6800GT

have a monitor that can do 1600x1200? x850xt

oh and dont go with the x800 pro it really isnt worth it.

if your interested... im selling a basically new 6800 ultra for 370 + shipping which is pretty cheap and you don't have to wait for the rebate. I've owned an X850xt and 2 X800 XT Platinum editions (better than the regular x850 xt) and ive found the 6800 to be a lot better than the x800's just because shader model 3.0 rocks.

Seems there are no CompUSA stores in my state yet i still get charged sales tax. Strange. So change the above to $375 for the X850XT. Would this change anything?
