Can you use any video card with any desktop computer? Is paying a couple extra bucks for an overclocked VC worth it?
I got a free:

Dell Dimension 8400
Pentium® 4 Processor 530 with HT Technology (3GHz, 800 FSB)
1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 400MHz (2x512M)
80GB Serial ATA Hard Drive
Dual Drives: 16x DVD-ROM Drive + 48x CD-RW Drive
17 in E773c CRT Monitor
128MB PCI Express™ x16 ATI Radeon™ X300 SE
Sound Blaster Audigy™2 (D) Card w/Dolby 5.1, and IEEE 1394 capability
Dell 5650 5.1 Surround Sound Speaker System with Subwoofer

Need a new video card... Know where I can get a good VC that's worth it? or should I wait a couple months?

you would have to get a PCI express videocard, so to answer your question "no". there are also AGP cards and regular PCI cards. hell theres even onboard video cards. If you decide to but a new card make sure your looking in the PCI express catagory. you cant use AGP. but other than that yes, any card in that catagory you should be able to use.

You need a PCI Express style video card, so I would wait until the 6800gt or ultra or x800xt are available in PCI Express.
