I am thinking about building a small for factor PC to replace my current Media Center/Desktop.

Right now I am looking at a Shuttle SN26P bundel at Newegg. The problem is that it does not have a PCI slot, but only two PCI Express x16 slots (one will be used by the video card), so my current Fusion HDTV card will not work in this setup. I am not upset about this, since the Fusion software is not the best in the world.

So, I found the VBOX 164e, which is a PCI Express x1 card. From what I have been told, I can run the x1 card in an x16 slot (even though the connector is a bit different). Is this true?

Does anyone have any experience with this card using Beyond TV? I tryed to search, but I did not find anyone that was using Beyond TV, and only a few people mentioned this tuner card.

My goal is to get all of my servers into a rack, and make my computer smaller, so that I have more space in my room.

An x1 card will work in a x16 slot no problem.

I have this card and run BTV. The 272 drivers *seem* to have cleared up my last remaining issue, which was that the tuner wouldn't would tune the station on it's first attempt.

I'm pretty sure this problem has gone away, but I'll reboot the HTPC tonight and see if it is still around in the 272 drivers.

Cool, thaks for the input!

Are you using the firefly remote with your setup as well? If you are, how do you like it? Can it control other programs, such as PowerDVD?

I rebooted my machine after work today, and lo and behold, BTV tunes my OTA HD first try. The new drivers must have made the difference, as it appears to be working perfectly.

I don't use the Firefly remote as I use the MCE remote. I do know however that you can make most remotes control almost any application with the use of Girder, or HIP. I personally found HIP easier to learn and it is free. Both applications will pretty much let you map any key to any function.

Thanks! I bought Beyond TV this afternoon, and I just installed it. The interface and everything is a ton better then the Fusion HDTV software! The firefly remote should arrive soon, so that will be cool to play with.

I use a firefly at home. The RF is rather nice. With Girder and a USBUIRT (which you need to control a stb anyway) you can control any other home theater component just like a IR remote.
