Long story short, we have a client that is growing and have been using a self-policing policy to keep track of various software installs on their Workstations.
At this point and time, they are decommissioning a bunch of older PCs and bringing in a newer fleet and thus there's quite a bit of jerking around of the Installation Keys.
They used to have GASP installed, but they have since gone under, but that is a product that is overkill in their situation. We just want to make sure that they have the same number of installs as licenses purchased. This goes from just about every Adobe application to AutoCad.
I'm just wondering if anyone might have a simple VBScript that would accomplish this or if there is a simple freeware version of some application that would allow me to do this. I'm just looking to save a crapload of time as I'm having to log in to each workstation prior to decommissioning them and then write down all the product keys prior to taking the system down.
I would be forever grateful! :D

How many machines are in the environment? Are all machines attached to a domain?

You could look at SpiceWorks, but there are other (and better) options out there for a fee. And depending on the number of machines you have, SpiceWorks may not be a realistic option.

Thanks a bunch! I'll look into that app tomorrow.

Domain consists of about 50 workstations running XP & a few Win 7. There are also about 35 additional workstations spread across 3 other locations that do not authenticate to the main Samba PDC.

I've got a script that will spit out a text file with the installed apps, but no serial numbers & I am far from capable with my limited vb knowledge.

Much appreciated!

Give SpiceWorks a try. Though I'm not sure if or how quickly the 35 external machines would be profiled.

If you want to find some other alternatives, then do a search through the [H] forums for "spiceworks", and you'll hit plenty of threads that have other similar products listed.
