hey guys - I built a pc this weekend (sig) and had 2 vantec vortex hd coolers for my raptors. Plugged 'em in and when we fired it up for the first time there's a fuckin' fire!!!!!
Damn - we pulled the plug fast. No damage to the drives or any other components, but a lot of smoke and melted wires. It looks like it came from where the wires are attached to the pcb behind the lcd display. So we take out cooler # 1 and fire it up again and POOOF!! up goes cooler #2. Same exact problem. My psu is fine, everything else is fine. I've gutted the fuckers and am using them for HD holders now.
If I had put the side on the case before we fired it up for the first time I'd be a sad, sad man.
Anyway, I don't suppose they're all bad, or even most - but caveat emptor.
I warned ya.
