I want to cool my northbridge using a Vantec Iceberq since it looks so cool. There are 2 versions (iceberq 4, iceberq 4 pro), will either of the the 2 versions fit on a northbridge using the spring loaders?

I recall crystal orbs being mounted on both graphic cards and northbridges.

I'm not sure if it'll work on a chipset, but mine works great on my 9800

Not sure about the "Iceberg 4" ones, but this one works well on my nf7. It just doesn't have the bling factor.

Agreed, I've got the same one, but no bling factor ;)

Might be a silly question, but I'll ask anyway:

Does the Iceberq 4 PRO work on an ATi, since it's recommended for nVidia on Vantec's website?

My guess is yes, since I assume those fans are universal, but I think it's odd that the non-pro version recommends both ATi and nVidia, but the PRO doesn't. . .

I use the non pro Iceberq on my northbridge. I didn't like the spring loaded tie-ins because they weren't tight enough to make good contact with the chip. I just used two small screws.

so it DOES fit, how did you screw it in using screws? Got any pics?

Well it fits perfectly on my NF7-S, not sure about your board but I am sure you would be fine. There were no obstructions what-so-ever for me. I would snap a pic but a friend has my camera right now. All I did was use two screws (hard disc cage screws I believe, they came in the bag of screws with my case). I pre screwed them in without the Iceberq in place to make sure they wouldn't hit any traces and to get them in straight, removed them, slapped AS5 on the chipset, and attached the Iceberq with the screws (not really tight, just snug).

i had an iceberg for quite some time on my nf7-s, but it recently started dying so i went to a passive cooling option, and bout a zalman. It works great and i never have to worry about fans dying. I have heard going passive is pretty popular, and it worked great for me
