I just saw newegg has got these refurbs for 15 free shipping. Thinking of picking one up to replace the intel stock HSF until I go watercooling ina few months.
Just looking for some opinions. the main reason is simply the price. I know there are better HSF the SP-94 or the 7000u but this is only 15 bucks and I'm gonna do watercooling anywasy so I don't want to blow 50 bucks .

Why upgrade if you are going watercooling anyway? If you aren't overheating and losing stability you should be fine until you get watercooling

You can't overclock with the stock heatsink very much, but I assume you can live with that for a little while

Just my .02

just an fyi. if those are the aeroflow 1's with the tmd fans...I'd say stick with your stock hsf until you watercool.

reason being is that the tmd fans have a large amount of torque due to the motor design. This generates a LOT of vibration too.
I have one and had to mod the shit out of it and my case to rid most of the vibration...and it's still very noticeable when the fan speed is on high.

Had to take the fan off the heatsink. Used gell (gotten from one of those Dr. Scholl's foot/shoe pads...yes, they were new so my rig doesn't smell like feet) to make a fan "gasket" to absorb vibrations from the fan to the heatsink. took the motherboard out and re-mounted it using rubber washers on both sides of the screw holes (rubber washers were actually for repair of faucets..but worked quite nicely for the computer). Put dynamat on the inside of the case on the bottom and sides. Over that I put some sound absorbing foam.

all that work and vibrations still get through from that damn fan, however, if I don't have that fan running, I can't hear my pc now except for the 120mm antec exhaust. However, I keep it because it does do a very good job at cooling and I can't justify the $50 for a 7000cu for a few degrees drop in temp.

i have to agree, the aeroflow does give off an INSANE amount of vibration. its nice cooler and all but get like an slk700 or sumthin with a regular fan

I like my Aeroflow, and don't really care about the noise it makes, cuz it lets me know that things are still runnin' ;) .

But if you're moving to watercooling anyway, I don't see any reason to get another heatsink... unless that $15 is really burning a hole in your pocket.
