Paradox Interactive has announced Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 is coming Q1 2020 onto consoles and PC. NVIDIA is the official graphics partner for the sequel to the cult classic and features such as real-time ray tracing and DLSS will be integrated into the game. The creative mind behind the memorable characters of the 2004 game, Brian Mitsoda, has returned as the Lead Narrative Designer for Bloodlines 2. Paradox Interactive has announced that the game will have support well past its launch date as free DLC for new factions. The game will be placed in Seattle's Dark Heart as players live out their vampire fantasies in a city filled with intriguing characters that are shaped by your choices. The combat is melee-focused and your character grows as you progress, but don't forget to uphold the Masquerade and guard your humanity ... or face the consequences.

"When Paradox announced they were acquiring the World of Darkness IP, I immediately started thinking about what it would be like to return to Vampire: The Masquerade. Our aim has been to carry on the signature themes that made Bloodlines unique - particularly its dark tone, atmosphere, and humor - and I think that fans of the original will love what we're doing with Bloodlines 2." - Brian Mitsoda

This brings back memories. I loved the first one as well as the pen and paper game. I hope they do a good job.

Loved the first, but I wonder if I will still be in the mindset now to enjoy this? Excited but DNF still left a hole in my heart.

To be honest, I want this...

But my head says that the original was a broken mess, and they never fixed it, the fans did eventually. So I am 50/50, will wait for reviews.

I wanna get super-excited, but I've never heard of Hardsuit Labs developing anything of note and that trailer might not even be gameplay footage....

Def a "wait and see" situation.

Excited but DNF still left a hole in my heart.

If there is one good thing about modern overly aggressive publishers, it's that they would never let devs get away with derailing a project by switching engines mid development multiple times. I think RSI is the only thing left around that's capable of serving up DNF level disappointment. lol

I was excited, but I heard the developers are going full SJW on this game. https://i.redd.it/10syygtpzmn21.png

This is an idiotic thing to do because the first game was about gore and sexy vampires. Jeanette will probably be in a Burka.

If this game is a true successor to the first one with modern graphics, I would have broke my policy of only buying Linux games and loaded up my Windows drive and bought an RTX card even though I plan on getting an AMD videocard next for open source drivers.

I don't really understand the SJW thing and am fairly ignorant of it, however, I don't get any of that from the link, or the video.

Ja, I'm not going to get excited about a Steam store page until after the 11th hour.

SJWism hasn't hampered my enjoyment of anything so far, but it is still good to call it out. I think Apex Legends shows that nobody cares as long as it's a good, fun game.

You are right, there is nothing specific about removing the sexy vampire part of the game. If all they add is lots of choices for gender/sex/pronouns/whatever than that is fine as long as there are sexy vampires and gore. But the problem is SJW never stop at more options and the same people cry "unrealistic body expectations" and make the character models ugly or censor the outfits.

Is it SJW to add more options?

the 'SJWs' and the 'ant-SJW's' generate the same gray noise that doesnt matter.

Lets stop with the searching whatever the topic is and then adding 'political' in google and copy pasting the first thing found to whine about.

If they change vampires from blood drinkers to non-consensual huggers, then we can talk.

For me if they sparkle in the sunlight.

I hope you are right. However, people said the same thing about South Park FBW when we heard about color skin slider joke. The game turned out to be a SJW infested, not fun, and like a month later is was on sale for 50% off.

The problem isn't the fun, it's South Park and it wasn't funny, that was the problem.

That game was just bad overall. South park already is a bit long in the tooth to begin with IMO. That game just felt half-assed to me. Felt more like some indie dev got a license and just shoved whatever he could out the door to make a dollar lol. Was it the same studio that did stick of truth? Not that that one was a gem either, but it was decent.

Other than the aggressively worded headline I didn't see anything that should raise "SJWs are ruining this game" flags. All I got from the read was that character creator will have a lot of choices and how you choose to use or not use those will be entirely up to the player.

IIRC the first games had several options for allowing gay relationships or atleast flirting throughout the game. This sounds like a reasonable expansion.

Edit: But then again, I liked female ghostbusters so what do I know lol

Do people really buy games a year out? I rarely pre-purchase anything anymore. I need to see actual game footage and some reviews first.
Honestly I forgot to include the Steam Store link in the article and didn't want to edit the front page. So I left a link to it in the comments.

I only preorder games 30 minutes before they go live. That way I can read reviews and watch a few minutes of someone playing it on Twitch.

Hey streamer dude; how many times has the game crashed in the past 5 hours? Once and you're having fun? Good deal. Every hour you have to restart your client to continue? Leave it in the store.

One of the best games of all time, I'm all in. Even if they remade the first one with updated graphics, it would be good. Now if Bloodrayne 3 would only be made........

I still play the original one every so often with the latest un-official patch.

It's a nice calming game when I get sick of blowing stuff up. ;)

V:TM is some of the most gender-bent, alt-lifestyle, religion and culture mixed stuff ever made. Why would you demand the actual universe of the game be censored into a shitty made for TV Christmas romance?

I loved the first game(well second) despite the flaws and it's good to see they have one of the original writers working on it but it's one of those games that's going to be tough to match much less top so I'm definitely taking the wait and see approach.

Mods made the first VTM great. Hopeful for the sequel but we'll see.

Most of what made the game great was already there. However it was also buggy to the point of being broken without one of the fan made patches so they do deserve some credit for making the game what it is, hopefully they have the budget to finish this one.

Been playing bloodlines 1 and I still heartily enjoy the haunted hotel level. IMHO, it's one of a few levels in games done right. (But that's just me :))
