Heya...

I currently have 2 speakers and sub .. lately i've feel the urge to get a new sound system but I don't want to pay 500$ bucks for everything. My question is, what is the best 5.1 speaker set I can get for around 100-150$CAN :) and the best value soundcard (I don't really know the pricing on those but... not too expensive... as long as it runs 5.1.

Thanks for the help

BTW, I'm also looking for good headphones with a mic attached to it... any idea on these ?

Thx :)

why a 7.1 card when i only have 5 speaker and a sub ? :)

Sorry i dont know anything in the speaker... I plug them in... and if it works im happy :)

ok.. but whats the difference between the live 5.1 and the 7.1 if I use 5 speakers and a sub ?

And what about sound quality ?

From what ive heard with my ears, a 5 dollar sound card that support 5.1 is the same as a 50 dollar soundcard that supports 5.1. Except, the higher end soundcard is probably going to be creative, and have more software bundled with it. Generally even a cheap as anything sound card supports eax/d3d/a3d. (cpu utilization should be approx the same, i noticed no differance personally)

Personally i think creative is overpriced and overrated. I had a live for a few years and it was nothing but headaches.

(actually a 5.1 a-open aw850 i think was the model sounded clearer and more crisp to me than the 5.1 live.)

z640's and im not shure about the sound card, but if they still made it id go with the game seround fortissimo 3(which is what i have, and it kicks ass for around 50 bucks when it came out, probably stoped at around 30.. such a good card)
