I feel that a combo of a VA panel and locks dimming is the best we can do right now until micro led or oled panels come out.

Does anyone know of a display with both?

Depends if you mean FALD or edge lit local dimming but there’s quite a few of each. The ASUs ROG Swift PG35VQ/ Acer x35 for instance with FALD. And the Asus XG438Q with edge lit for example.

Have a look at all the HDR600 and HDR1000 models here which all have some form of local dimming

Forgot to mention I’m mostly looking for flat monitors not ultrawides or curved displays are there any of those?

There's a handful of 43" TVs too. Vizio's E43-F1 has 10 local dimming zones. Their 2019 model, 43" M quantum (M437-G0) has 12 local dimming zones. I believe they use VA panels.

I thought I saw Samsung had local dimming on a 2019 43" model but I can't find anything about it now.

If you care about good HDR, you want FALD. VA is fine for SDR content without local dimming but for HDR edge lit with limited zones doesn't produce that great results. If you can handle the size, TVs are your best bet in this regard.

Samsungs Q9FN TV from last year and Q80+ this year are VA FALD.
If you are in the US, your version of the Q8FN also has FALD.

All of those will give you some of the best HDR.
Dont get one less than 55" size or you lose the 120Hz panel.

Sorry I should have specified, something that’s normal monitor sized. I wouldn’t be able to get a tv to work in my room

There are no flat 16:9 displays with a VA-type panel and FALD under 49" in size, as far as I'm aware. You either have to settle for edge-lit (not recommended) or go ultrawide at that size for now.

With a 21:9 35" display you can pillarbox it to what is effectively a 28" 16:9 monitor.
