Why is it when I install the v7 client that there is no tray icon so I can open the program and pause work units and stuff like that? It used to do that, but now when I install there is no tray icon at all.

Did you set it to run as a service at install? I did that once and the next time I logged in, I couldn't get the program to open.

Once you download did you actually start the GUI client? I'm running it right now and gave no problems.

It's not a service. I used recommended install. The program is running and the webconsole shows it, but there's no tray icon so I can open up the gui.

go to the program files and find fahcontrol, then do a shortcut on your desktop or start menu or something, then make sure to set your slider all the way to Full

I try to run fahcontrol and it won't run. I wonder if W8 is a problem?

I could never get v7.3.6 to work with Win8, either. It works fine in Win7

that's weird, it worked fine with my win8 install... i never activated win8 though, i just had a trial, thank god.

Go Alt-TAB

For some reason on Win8, the window in the background. It runs fine on Win8-32 and 64, both AMD and Intel chips. What happened to me at first, was the popup to complete the install was in the background so I didn't see it, and assumed it did was busted.
