How's a CHAINSAW g4 TI4200-8x ( http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-145-033&depa=0 ) sound as my v-card in my budget gamer system.

I game alot, computers/gaming are one of my favorite hobbies so i need a good computer for it(also im moving up from a g4 mx 440, 600mhz P3 cpu and 256mb ram so i need something to help me forget the laggy years)..

Computer's specs:
CPU: AMD mobile 2500+ going to be oc'd to highest stable(heard was 3.2ghz)
V-card: chainsaw g4 ti4200-8x
ram: 512mb ddr pc3200 ocz
mobo: MSI Nforce2 chipset 400

Good enough card to suit my gaming wants? Remember the budget is tight.. unless u suggest going with the geforce4 mx440 for another month or two(basicly the whole summer) while i get money from my jobs so i could get a nice $200-300 v-card[not really nesessary] ... i think this might be a good choice

lol 3.2ghz? you should expect around 2.5ghz, the OTES ti4200 can be had from newegg.com for around 65

I strongly recommend you spend a little more and get the 9600XT. It is a much faster card, capable of DX9, and not that much more expensive than the Chaintech card you mention. If you are willing to spend more than that, a 9700 would be a great choice.

Try looking at a 9600 PRO, not the XT version

It really is worth the extra money from a TI4200 (directx 9) and will last you plenty long (assuming you don't need the best of the best)

ti4200 rapes the 5700LE, get the refurb abit ti4200 OTES for $65, its an incredible deal and its faster than a 9600pro in most cases.

To clear it up for the last time: The 9600Pro is $140-200... i cant get it.

I'll check out the OTES one...

hmm now its between 9600 and 9600pro... depends if i can get the money in how long..

meh, im going 9600pro! thanks guys!

spend almost a hundred extra and get the 9800pro. i know the idea is a budget system, but if you just spend some more you'll have a really bitchin "budget" system.

you can easily afford this if you're willing to oc your rig a tiny bit. On a super tight budget i'd recommend the following (keeping gaming in mind here):

Athlon XP2500+ oc'd to XP3200+ (remember this is not actual ghz, just the "intel equivalent")

This will free up enough cash for a nice 9800pro like this one: http://www.hypermicro.com/product.asp?pf_id=VDHE100B
