I just got the ux32vd and it has some serious flex on the bottom panel. If you lightly push up on the right side of the bottom panel it will flex in and make a creaking/scratching sound as it rubs against the side panel where the usb ports are. So basically any time you pick it up its going to make that sound. I found a few other people on the internet that had the same problem. Is this a common thing with this laptop? I'd rather just get a refund than a replacement if I'm just going to get the same thing with a replacement.

Ive been look at a LOT of ultrabooks lately as I am in the market.

I see you have two options:

1) return and buy another.

2) return and wait 1 month for the asus transformer book

either way, return it. At $1200, that is unacceptable.

edit: forgot to mention my reason. The ux32 is an amazing ultrabook. I find a lot other have a hard time competing with the sleekness and power. Maybe the Gigabyte U2442V-CF1, but it is not nearly as sexy.

Yeah, this laptop is just sick - sexy, powerful, small, light and upgradable!

Got the replacement, same exact problem. I didn't even take it out of its plastic wrap. This one is going back as well.

Edit: here is a video in case anyone was wondering about the problem. It makes that sound anytime you pick up the laptop.

With metal that thin you're bound to get some warping. Does it bother you that much?

The flex doesn't bother me, its the scraping against the side. It happens each time you pick the laptop up.

Return it again and get yourself another replacement.

Asus' QC is lacking. I just had to return my UX32VD today because of the backlight bleeding issue and an imbalance issue between L/R speakers.

Jesus. They make some sexy kit but all these stories about reliability really turn me off. I had to return my Transformer Prime because the proprietary power adapter / cable failed after 2 days. I really want to like ASUS but they're not making it easy...
