UT3 Demo available on Fileplanet..

Wait, what key? Is this from a prior signup or will we be able to get a key once it goes public?

downloading now. 741.03mb,

Speed from fileplanet is not so great at ~230kb/s

Man i hope there are a lot of mirrors once its out. Cod4 release was a disaster at first for launch with yahoo servers crashing lol

Might be stupid question, but is the key supposed to be available sometime today I assume?

Key will be sent out "when it's done" but you can preload it so that when they do send them out, you can play immediatly

Is this exclusive to fileplanet? Or can we get this elsewhere?

When the acual demo is released then it'll be torrented like crazy, filefront will have it, various other sites, i'm sure BeyondUnreal will have a few redirects, and then there will always be Fileplanet.

This is just a pre-load of the demo, you need the key to play it. The key will be released when the actual demo is released to the public.

There are no Keys, find a mirror or torrent.

Runs awesome maxed out 1440x900, vsync on, limited options set to max. No slowdown at all(GPU isnn't overclocked at the moment).

Feels exactly like UT should. Gears should run VERY nice if this is any indication.

Looks as if all those people who payed for the FP subscriptions just got boned over.

Torrent downloads work, and don't even need a key. Good thing I didn't buy into FP's scam.

Fileshack has it but unless you're a paid subscriber, the wait is around 1 hour on the public servers. :(

Of course this is released when I'm on a trip and stuck with my laptop. Gaming system is 418 miles away. Burrnnn........ Is Sunday here yet?!?!?! :-P

Well, that was actually fun! I'm not a big fan of UT but I like the way this one felt. The texture work is really nice. I wonder if they will pack higher resolution textures when the game ships. There wasn't much to configure but I set post processing to vivid and it looked really nice and played smoothly @ 1920x1200.

I got mine off of Fileshack. So far I'm very impressed. This is the best thing I've played in quite a while. So far it has met my expectations. Right now I'm running it at 2560x1600 with all the in game options maxed out as far as I can tell. It's also been quite stable. It chunks ever so slightly from time to time when there is alot going on, but the performance is acceptable all around.

Clearly you haven't played TF2.

I haven't but then again I didn't enjoy the first one all that much and the second one didn't appeal to me from the screenshots and information I've gathered online. If there is a demo out there for it, I'll certainly give it a try, but I have no desire to run out and buy it based on what I've heard.

for anyone looking for a good reprsentation of what the game looks like when EVERYTHING is maxed, look no further, saved in PNG format for lossless glory, This is taken from my system while playing agaisnt bots, 1920x1200 16xMSAA, 16xHQAF

mind you at these settings I'm getting like around 20fps avrage with drops to as low as 10fps, but boy is it pretty (I can do 4xMSAA, 16xQAF with smooth 30fps gameplay at same resolution)

Reason I'm posting is most user pics are saved in horribly compressed jpgs and people are saying the demo looks like crap when it doen't, on the same token, the demo probbly won't look like the final game either, this isn't even a proper demo guys, its a BETA demo, decent chance were seeing the low end textures, but even if we;re not, the game is damn fun :p

I think this is representational of the final game. I don't know where people get off saying that a game demo, beta or not isn't representational of the final game because 99% of the time they are. The biggest changes usually come to menus a few game options and of course, levels. Another change is that some games have horrible demos when it comes to bugs and crashes. The final game is usually better in this regard but not always. I've been playing games on PC since the early to mid 1990's and in all my experiences with game demos I've simply found statements like the one above to be untrue. I can almost guarantee with absolute certainty that the final game will look, feel and play just like this demo. What we will likely see are bug fixes, and of course more levels. The menus might change, but I am doubtful it will. The final game may have more video options for AA, AF and things of that nature, but again that is doubtful as none of the Unreal games have ever had much in the way of those options.

Ignorent eh?

My backup torrent DL finishes in an hour

My main Fileshack DL finishes in 10 minutes.

I didn't pay 7 dollars a month....

maybe we get a whole lot of other things from Fileplanet? Maybe there's more than just demos? Maybe exclusive betas, etc? Maybe we like not having to wait or find a torrent for anything we need?

Convenience is worth $7 a month, given the amount I use FP.

I take it you've forgotten that 3 years ago, with the UT2k4 demo, it did not ship with the highest details/textures setting available...

I do agree textures are pretty crappy in spots, but based on past UT demos, there will more eye candy in the full game, which should improve that (& hit our fps harder).

Besides, UT3 is absolutely awesome gameplay, so i kinda don't care all that much about graphics...if you want graphics, play Crysis :D

For the most part the IGN and Gamesport memberships are worth it but I'm not so thrilled with the throughput from their members only file servers. Demos come out and the speed is worse than some of the freely available mirrors (when mirrors are available). That's not acceptable for me because I don't have much time to play as it is so waiting several hours instead of the 5 to 10 minutes that it should have taken isn't cool. Sometimes I get lucky and someone has uploaded the file to Giganews and I can download it from there (2.5MB/sec).

I like my subscriptions and keep them for the reasons you mentioned plus the ad free and frequently updated content on their websites.

Oh yeah, after playing with the demo some more, UT3 rocks. I was never one to play just one type of online shooter so this will definately replace Q3 as my online game of choice when I want to play something fast paced and pretty.
