UT2k4 / D3 Capped @ 50% CPU Util on intel HT???

Has anyone noticed??

I have 2 monitors and I have the task manager running on the second screen while playing UT2004 and Doom3, and it never shows over 50% utilization for the game.. the rest is idle!!!

Can the games not even handle HyperThreading?? (both logical CPUs at 50%)

HELP!!!

If the app isn't setup to work smp, then it'll only use a single processor.


This is why many of us are amused by ht and dual cores. Useful? Sure, but not to your average gamer.

So all the latest intel CPUs cap all single threaded apps at 50%? no way..

That 50% is referring to overall cpu usage. If you have a single processor app running 100% on 1 of those cpus, the overall % is 50.

Both logical processors in the performance tab are running at 50% ..

It's running fine, it always says 50% w/ HT on.
