I have a 9800pro and i get about 17-30fps on that CONVOY map. I have no AA and no AF, and no VSYNC, and other setting or good. Is there anything i can go increase my performace. Im think of Buying a ABIT NF7, Will this increase my framerate getting a new mobo. Or should i just buy a new system?

Some higher quality ram (like pc-3200) and an Abit NF-7 "S" would help your framerates out a lot.

You need to increase your FSB & oc the vid card a bit. The better quality ram will allow you to run at higher fsb. If you cpu is unlocked lower the multiplier to 11.5 & run 210 fsb or better on an Abit NF-7 with good ram (not pc-2100)

No problems here, on my 9500pro, 9700pro, or my 9800pro.. something must be buggered.

Well it is my mobo and ram. BUt f i get a ABIT NF7 and pc3200 how much wil it increase my performace?

I have an Nforce 2 board and a 2200+

I get way higher than that. around 50+ fps...

at whatever res under 1280x1024 (1180xsomething?)

2xAA 8xAF

Driver issue.

I run same res, on a system half yours, with a ge4 and get solid playable frames.

Settings turned high, no AA and no AF of course.

Ignorance is bliss eh?

You must have something wrongly configured.. I think you have 6xAA and 16xAF on or something that is the reason for the low framerates.. my and your system is comparable and I play at 1024 resolution w/ 4xAA and 8xAF and get around 45-60 (depending on the location on convoy.. indoors it gets upto 70+ fps)

I run 1280x1024 with 1/2 normal, 1/2 high settings. Also 6xAA/8xAF. I see around 35-65 fps on that Onslought map. With lows of 20 in the middle when 800 guys are fighting for the central node. It makes almost no difference switching to crap graphics at 800x600 so I gotta be CPU bound on that game. Other maps I get great fps cept for convoy. That chokes me pretty good but I still see decent 25-30 fps when outside working forward.

I think my custom rig (when finished) will play it above 30fps at all times (with mids in the 70's and highs in the 100's) no matter what the map. More power baby my 9800Pro wants it bad.

I have my AA and AF on Appilcation Perfrence. And i have AA b/c i can still edges. I dun think its a driver problem b/c i just reitnalled windows. What else Could it be. Or is there anything i can do?

Smooth here at 1600 x 1200, details maxxed, 4 x aa with 16 x af.

dude.. what mobo you got..

also try this (after every step reboot):
-uninstall cat whichever driver you got
-use drivercleaner (from driverheaven.net/drivercleaner/) to remove ATi registry entries and stuff
-uninstall the game
-update mobo drivers if required also make sure windows xp sp1a is installed
-re-install dx 9 b
-re-install drivers
-re-install the game

and then post..

Your CPU and your 266mhz DDR ram is whats holding you back. Remember, UT is a very CPU intensive game due to the bots. With the vehicles and larger levels then UT2k3, it makes it even more memory intensive, so also the 512 is holding you back also.

Hmm well I run at 1280x960 and it runs real smooth, but AF and AA take a huge chunk of the framerate to the point of unplayable for me. Everyones systems is different.

I have a 9800 Pro and UT2004 demo plays smooth.

My system:

Hercules 9800 Pro @ 430/370
Athlon 2100 @ 200 x 11.5 (2.3 Ghz)
1 Gig of PC2700 Memory (7-3-3-2.5)

I play UT2004 at 1280x1024

UT2004 does not appear to be a very demanding game. Now Deus Ex IW plays like cr@p on my system - then again it does on almost any system :)

The demo doesn't have the high quality textures, they stripped them to keep the size of the file down. Should be smoking I think the demo looks worse than ut2003 with high textures, and that plays smooth on my 9800pro.

I did all that driver stuff. I have a FIC Am37. Some people have 2100+'s and they are doing better than me. But better ran. Well imma just buy that ABit NF7 and see what will happen then.

I still say driver issue.

Like I said I have a machine that is a 1.13 athlon with 512mb PC133 and a 4200. 1024x768 and runs smooth. So if your machine can't do that. Driver conflict somewhere.

Although you will enjoy the NF7-S, I say no point wasting extra money when it may not be neccesary.

Then try formatting. Something is messed up. I attended a lan where ti4200's on lesser systems then yours was smooth as silk.

Dude, your CPU has to access the RAM constantly while your playing the game to run it, if its need to access the RAM on a slow FSB, in your case, 266mhz plus the fact that your only running 512 and so your HDD swamp file is being accessed. So don't rule out your RAM is hurting your FPS.

The cheap way to improve your system is simple, really.

I don't know what mobo u own, I assume its an nforce 2 board?

If its not, get the Abit NF-7 for bout $70

SELL YOUR pc-2100 & buy 2 x 256 megs of good pc-3200 (5-2-2- cas 2.0).

Go into the bios & raise the fsb, if the xp2400 is not unlocked just put the fsb up as high as possible.

How much is two stick of pc3200? How much could i sell this 2100 what do u think is a reasonable price?
