Using Your PC In Bed

It would seem that a large number of people use their PCs in bed (ewww, gross…not like that), some as much as 6 hours a week. Some people even claimed to be on the PC more than they talk to their spouse at night. Really? How many of you use your PC in bed and for how long?

It appears that 57 percent of those who said they worked in bed (more than a quarter of those surveyed) said they whipped out their devices between 2 and 6 hours a week. Eight percent said they spent more evening time on their devices than talking with their partners.

I had three back operations over a 3 year period and I worked every day from the couch, chair and bed but willingly??? Yikes.

Lots of people use their laptops while sitting/laying in bed. Why not? Tons of them are just watching video anyway.

The first time I read the post I thought it said "people spend more time on their computer in their bed than on their spouse..." Mind in the gutter...

Only time I've used it is while simultaneously sick (flu, etc) and needing to get work done. If you can get work done, you can get up and do it somewhere both more comfortable and better for your back than your bed.

i have an old athlon pc in my room that i use for movie watching... dont use it much but when i do its usually some hardcore porn and fuck the gf then watch some prepackaged hollywood make-your-girl-happy shit. pc's are a wonderful thing

My fully-laden Mozart TX fits nicely in my bed. Snuggle next to it every night.

$1 says spacetrader is Kyle or Steve's ultra aggressive, testosterone ridden, alter ego.

I try to keep my bedroom as free from sleep distractions as possible. I don't even keep a TV in there, not interested in bringing my laptop there either. :)

My netbook sits on my nightstand, thats about as much bedtime computing as I get. My main PC is only 4 feet away from my bed anyway.

I have the magical porn shuttle under the bed for when the bitch says no; just pop on some porn and that no turns to a yes real quick. Also have a porn netbook for similar reasons.

I used to have to run a report at 6am for work that I would do from bed but I "delegated" that task to someone else.

I usually grab my netbook and head for the bed about an hour or two before actually going to sleep so I guess I use it at least 6-7 hours a week in bed, plus the same amount on the couch, outside or on the balcony and in the bathroom lol :)

No way, need for sleep is what prys me away from my PC at night. I don't sleep enough as it is. Besides, it never felt comfortable to me.

I usually do the yahoo crossword / wordsearch on a handheld pc before turning the lights out; so I guess I fall into that group of folks, figure I top out around the 6-7 hours per week mark when you toss in the last check of the forums and email.

I'll occasionally use my laptop in bed when I'm extremely tired. Most of the time the cat tries to block my view, though.

When I work/study at home, I spend virtually all of that time in bed. I just find it to be far more comfortable than sitting at a desk (although at times less productive lol). When my gf works from home, she often does the same.

But I don't think that's really what the article is talking about... seems to more towards people who bring their work home within them (and into the bedroom). I am talking about working from bed during the day and the laptop goes away in the evening.

I used to use my laptop in bed, though not anymore. I'd turn it on, pop a DVD in or stream a TV show... and then promptly fall asleep before the credits finished. That'd be why I stopped, actually. No point in turning it on if I was going to fall asleep a few minutes later.

I use may PC in my bed during the winter months when its cold and I get extremely lazy.
I fall asleep half the time though...

I don't use my PC in bed. I just fall asleep with my face on the keyboard like a real man! Pillows? Blankets? Who needs 'em! If I'm cold, I just redirect the video card exhaust down my shirt! Nothing's [H]arder than waking up with function keys embedded in your forehead and drool on the QWERTY. :D

Probably more than 6 hours a week for me. Slingbox, youtube, hulu, video streaming from server and of course, pawRn

I laughed.

My netbook sits on my nightstand too. I use it as a book reader (I have 1000's of sci-fi books on it). It's easier on the eyes than having a night light on, and it doesn't disturb the other creature that inhabits my bed (the GF!).

I also surf the web on it, and play the occasional game of Spider.

I would say at least an hour a night...I like reading. No work though. None, nada, zip!!! I gotta draw the line somewhere.....

I have my computer desk RIGHT next to the right side of my bed. so i can lay the head of my bed, rotate the monitor, keyboard in my lap. and be in the most comfy position

You know that's too easy, right? You don't have a girlfriend and have "non-sleeping" time in there? (If you're a kid, forget I brought it up. Don't ask your mom what the weird old man on the forums meant.)

I live in a 1 bed apt right now and the computer is in the bedroom, but I am about to move into a house, so I will have a room for my bed and a room for my computer. I don't own a lappy, but if I did, I'd be worried about taking it to bed because of "heat issues."

Easy.

Projection screen on the ceiling and wireless keyboard mouse combo fastened to adjustable food tray.

Not that I could ever get away with it....

For the first 4 months of 2008, I used my laptop in bed because of my back. I used only my laptop and my desktop was booted just to get stuff off it and that was it.

You cant be called [H]ard until you use your full tower + 24" monitor in bed.

yeah computer i the bed sounds great and all but in reality its a pain the ass.

have a 37" tv 1366x768 and blue tooth keyboard and mouse

and yeah it works but its uncomfortable and not very productive.

my biggest problem was resolution no matter what i was looking at on the web i found my self constantly increasing and decreasing web sites font sizes. so i can read it .

a bigger tv @1366x768 would have solved it (mostly) but that starts eating into the decor and also becomes a bedroom logistic problem. (at least in this bedroom)

the keyboard was excellent but the mouse was a major issue .
logitech has a couple solutions to this the dinovo II would be a good surfing keyboard .
or even the dinovo mini. but using those touch pads are a far cry from an actual mouse.

gaming is almost possible in bed as long its playable with the wireless xbox 360 controllers. ala grid or trackmania these can be enjoyable. but games such as battlefield 2 or something more involving i find it better to be at the desk. dont even try eve online in bed as more than likely one of two things will happen . you will either fall asleep while waiting at your gate camp or mining op . or you will be involved in a battle and wake up your partner with an elbo to the head. either case usually has server consequences in eve .

but as far as movies go the computer cant be beat ..

dvd hddvd bluray digital files hulu you tube and and what ever you can cram on the file server. set up a play list and its almost endless entertainment.

so basically for passive entertainment and may be some mild interactive content bed is fine.

but for something that is involving and needs your attention its the desk.

Got my HDTV in front of my bed and wireless kb/m. Yeah, I'm feelin' pretty sloth-like now.

Some people even claimed to be on the PC more than they talk to ______ at night.

is this really not a normal thing? are people expected to talk to anyone at all in their lives for a greater amount of time than they spend on their computers? im serious about this by the way. i cant imagine having to try to talk to people for even half the amount of time i spend on my computer. people are just so terribly boring when compared to almost any digital source with a connection to the net.

im 22, and for the passed 4 years, i have lived in my dad's house. there are 2 bedrooms, an office, a living room with cathedral ceilings, a full kitchen with a dinner table, and a full bathroom.

because my dad used to work from home, i was forced to stay quiet or leave the house or go to my room whenever he was on the phone or working.

i would choose to goto to my room. over those 4 years, i have purchased a 52" tv, sold it to my dad, and then bought a 55" hd tv and put it in my room. i replaced my old compaq running on windows me with the right rig in my sig, and in early 2008, i replaced that rig with the rig in the left of my sig which also resides in my room.

when at home, i do not leave my room unless i am using the bathroom, getting food, heading out to hang out, or going to work/school. what reason would i have to leave my room? everything i want/need is in there except a toilet and a kitchen. its like a mini-house. i used to have a mini-fridge in there but i didnt use it enough, so i sold it to my dad and now he chills beer with it. i used to go outside to smoke cigarettes, but i quit smoking 2 months ago, and now i just use my e-cigarette and vaporize in my room constantly.

i work fulltime nights as a nursing aid while i goto class partime to become a nurse, so i come home and passout in my bed, wake up when the sun is going down, goto class, and come home to mash away at the pc playing games and watchin tv while i wait to goto work so i can make money so i can party on the weekends.

over the last year, my dad has left the house and begun working 3 hours away. he rarely comes home, except on some weekends. since i have become so accustomed to living out of my room, i still rarely venture into the rest of the house. why would i? my computer is the fastest, my couch and my chair are the most comfortable, and my television looks the best and is the biggest.

the only downside to living in my bedroom is that its upstairs, and as such, it gets about 10 degrees hotter than the rest of the house, so while its 65F downstairs, its 75 degrees F upstairs.

i live in a tower. i work like a vampire. i grind away at the pc as a casual - hardcore gamer with a serious movie/porn habit.

before anyone says anything, im just trying to find out whats so wrong with being on the pc all the time when you're not with friends / gf / workin / schoolin.

exercise is overrated. i just have a lot bizarre and kinky sex with my girlfriend of 3 years.

am i really that fucked up?

I have had 4 operations in about 2 years and still healing. I am on my wife's laptop right now! :p

I don't use my computer in bed, but I do occasionally check my email or surf the web on my phone.
