Using US surge protector in Asia?

I wouldnt do it, most arent rated for 220v, instead you should get a transformer (voltage converter).
I used this one in France and Sweden earlier this year, being the geek I am I checked the voltage with my multimeter and its stable.

My laptop brick runs much cooler @ 230V, though. 
Just get a strip that's RATED for 115~230V. If it's not rated for it, DON'T DO IT! It should be clearly labeled as to what it can do.

Most surge protectors sold in the US start to clamp down at 330v, but it'd be best to pick up one in Asia that natively is designed for their 220v systems, and then plug your stuff into that. I'm not sure if a surge protector would work correctly behind a transformer, probably would but why risk it?
