Using three screens on WinXP

I want to connect 3 screens to my computer. I already have two connected to my 8800GTX, and I want to connect another. I have a Gigabyte P35-DS3 board, so only one real PCI-E slot (the other is a 2cm thing, not sure what that's about).

Anyway, I have an old PCI card - an ancient ATI 3D Rage II. I put it in the slot and loaded windows. It was the only working monitor at first and I had to extend the desktop to the other two. It didn't ask for drivers and worked perfectly.
The next time I started the computer, only the 3rd monitor lit up. When I tried adding the first two, I got an error:
"The display control panel is unable to change the display settings. You may not have appropriate administrative rights to change these settings."

When I click ok, I get another one -

"The display settings being saved are invalid. Please try a different combination of display settings."

And another -

"The currently selected graphics display driver can not be used. It was written for a previous version of windows, and is no longer compatible with this version of windows.
The system has been started using the default VGA driver.

Please contact your hardware manufacturer to get an upgraded driver, or select one of the microsoft provided drivers."

What the hell is up with that?
I tried looking for drivers for the card and installed a few, but none of them helped with this at all.
Any suggestions?

all i can say is that i tired to do 3 screns on XP with SLI and i still couldnt get it to work like i wanted.

my guess is that your 3d Rage II is SO OLD that it's not compatable with XP or multiple display configs anyways

But it works at first!... even if I take it out and put it in again.
I need to train a monkey to do that every night when I shut off the computer. :D

I know what the problem is. I run 3 monitors in Windows XP. It's workable if the 3rd card is also an Nvidia card so you don't need to load another driver set. The problem is that windows is loading Nvidia drivers first and it can't load the proper ATi drivers for your Rage.

I was not able to get ATI x1950 + Nvidia 6100 to work. I replaced the x1950 with an 8800GT and then everything was perfect because the Nvidia driver set covered all the neccessary hardware.

GeForce 8800GT = 2 LCDs on DVI + GeForce 6100 = 1 LCD on VGA
