using thermals pads ok?

quick question... I got 2 brand new 780's and I am installing the waterblocks on them right now. can I use the thermal pads that originally came inside the card (you know the pads that cover the ram chips and no they have not been damaged in anyway.) or should I use the ones that came with my waterblock?
 
The ones with the waterblock would be guaranteed to be the proper thickness, while the ones on the original heatsink may or may not be thick enough.
 
Not familiar with that card operating temps but fujipoly thermal pads are great and I use them on my HD7950 VRMS and memory with water block and on my mother board VRMS, chipset. Work great on VRM temps for my card and I'm sure they are better than stock.


Best thermal pad that I know of. It's not cheap but if cooling is priority to you then go for it.
 
Agree with SonDa5...the fujipoly pads are much, MUCH better than the ones that come stock with waterblocks.

Go for the 11 W/mK unless you plan to take the cards sub-zero then the 17's MIGHT be worth the huge price difference. Make sure you know what thickness(es) you need before ordering.
 
What waterblock company makes you cut the pads yourself? It'd be good to know so I don't waste my time ordering one of their parts.

Koolance.Brought 2 blocks for 780 had to cut to size.

EK does this as well.
Might be all companies that does this.

EK and DangerDen does this in my experience. However, cutting the pads literally takes 2-3 minutes at the most, I wouldn't say that the cutting is a deal breaker for any block.

If you want to make sure to have precut pads, then in the product description, it would usually say precut pads.

EK is a shit company and I wouldn't waste a nickel on anything they made. Danger Den went out of business for a reason. When I spend $100 on a hunk of metal, the least they could do is cut the pads, it's called service.
