hey guys, i want to have a setup where i can just use my computer as well as watch tv on my SAMSUNG HD tv. Basically i want to be able to go back and forth or even use my monitor on the side as well. ive seen setups where people drag their screen from their PC monitor to their TV. I was just wondering how i would do that.

My video card is fairly new, i believe its a nvidia gtx or something and my monitor is a dell 24' and has HDMI ports. Thanks :D

You can just connect both your monitor and your TV to your video card. I'm assuming you already have your monitor connected to your video card via HDMI. Just connect your TV to your video card via DVI. Then under "display settings" of windows, check on "extend to this display" or something like that.

If you need to watch TV, you will just change the input source on your TV.

Yea, as posted above, it's pretty easy. You even have a few options in your video control panel to control how you want it to behave.

Just make sure to get the resolution for the TV right and use a 60hz refresh rate.

You have most of the info you need to get started, now get to it :p.

If something doesn't seem right, just let us know.

thanks guys
should i start using the HDMI input to connect my monitor to my computer for daily use?
im currently using the white dvi connect port from my monitor. whats the difference?
i mainly just browse and play a few games

Yes, hdmi to your TV would be perfect actually, not much if any difference than with DVI however which is a good thing.

If you're already using dvi for your monitor, just use it as is. Just connect your TV via hdmi then.

Video Card - DVI Output --> Monitor
Video Card - HDMI Output --> HDTV
