What you are looking for is an directory Symbolic Link (are you running windows?) For more info you can read up at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NTFS_symbolic_link .
Lets say for example you want to have a directory called mydirectory which appears to be on drive C but actually keeps its files on drive d. You would do something like this from an admin command prompt: mklink /d link target or you can use something like like the open source symlinker GUI at http://code.google.com/p/symlinker/

You can also just add a library location to Windows 7 and have that set as the default. Right-click on the library, then select properties, then add a new folder, then click on set save location. Not sure if that is exactly what you want, but easy to do.

you remove it with rmdir whetever_the_link_name_is or you can use the GUI I linked to above.
