Is this possible? I just got a new SATA harddrive I want to use instead of my primary ata drive.. my question is, can I use a sata 7200 harddrive as a master, and a normal ata 5400 RPM as a slave? will any problems come up in the bios if I connect it up and install windows on it, usin the ata as a slave??

It's quite possible. Just set the SATA first in the boot order in the BIOS. SATA doesn't use master or slave since there is only one drive per channel. Just leave the ATA drive set as it normally should be on the IDE setup.

Also, make sure you have a floppy with the SATA drivers for the Windows install or it won't see the SATA drive.

thats how mine is setup...it was a pain to get it going at first but i got it...only thing i have now is in the tray icon bar i have the Safely Remove Hardware button....for the sata drive that windows is running off of lol
