Using RivaTuner on HD 4780

If I use the latest version of RivaTuner to automatically manage fan temp is that better than not having it be on "auto".

If I understand correctly, on "auto", depending on the core temp of the GPU it will increase the fan speed.

Are the default settings good?
 
Radeon HD 4780? ATi released a new card thats between a 4800 and 4600?

Seriously though, if you're not overclocking your 4870 the stock settings will be just fine. Game on.
