I want to set up a pc with dual screen, one being a monitor in the computer room, and the other being an lcd tv in the adjacent room about 40 ft (cable wise) away.....i want to be able to have a keyboard and mouse in each room and switch to either display and set of user imput devices when needed to control the main pc in the computer room. .....so basically im asking is how to get a video, keyboard, and mouse signal with 40 ft of cabling and if possible some way to switch between sets of keyboard and mice. I appreciate any input or suggestions you might have. :)

Use a KVM switch, and extender cables, or possibly a KVM switch with a wireless set up that has a good range.

It is easier and cheaper to just buy a cheap computer.... 40feet of high quality computer monitor cables doesn't come cheap. Last time I checked 40 feet was around $100 for the good stuff. The cheap stuff goes for around $1/ft, but you get ghosting and fuzzy text issues when it gets long.
