i've got some new hardware coming this week and i'm planning on buying a bigger hard drive than my two puny 60gb's and i don't really have a way to backup my files other than burning to dvd's, which takes a long time and costs money. so i was thinking i could move everything i wanted on to one of my hard drives and delete everything i don't need, take it out, format my new drive and 1 other 60, or both i suppose, not sure, and then use this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16812118401 to transfer my backed up files. would that cord work for what i want to do, connect an internal ide hard drive via usb to put files onto another drive? would windows pick up that external hard drive just fine? could i format that backup drive as well when i'm done using it and then use all 3 in my compy?
