Hi, i want to set up a large ftp site for a m8 and i to share files, is there a way i can use my computer to host the ftp?

also if possible id like to host a website from my computer as well, my connection speed is UNBELIEVEABLE for a cable modem, i can get 450kb/sec easy

Im running XP Home, 1gb RAM, 80gb HD, 128 mb nVida gfx card and the computer id like to use for this purpose.

thanks in advance for the help :)

get apache for the website and some sort of ftp server program for the ftp. I use bulletproff ftp server.

im behind a router, that seems to be a problem

how do i set it up?

Forward port 80 to your computer's internal IP in your router settings. Your computer should be something along the lines of 192.168.1.X or 192.168.2.x or 10.10.10.x It will say in your router's configuration page.

i have DMZ on, so all ports are forwarded, i cant set up Cute FTP correctly though :(

anyone know how?

thats true, but how do i use cute ftp to set files of mine to share, my buddy and i need a faster way of sharing

i dont know anything about the software so can someone explain?

btw, if i do get this ftp up successfully then ill config my router without DMZ

i still dont know what im doing, lol, im using cuteftp but i can figure out how im supposed to use my computer to host the site

by default ftp servers send out on port 21 so I would open that on the router, and also port forward your ip that your ftp server will be on with the 21 extension. and you should be set if i'm correct??
