using mobile cpus on desktops??

ya ive been wondering whats up with the sockets sharing the same number was notebook cpus for example:


AMD Athlon 64 3000+, 1MB L2 Cache, 64-bit Processor for DTR Notebooks- OEM

and the

anywho, can you use both CPUs on the same motherboard?

the only issue I see is getting a motherboard bios that will recognize the chip, the chip configuration is the same as are the pins.

best bet is to email your motherboard manufacturer and ask, I know the XP mobiles were no problem havent heard much about the A64 mobiles though

ya... i was just wondering about that.... becuase i plan to get that new DFI mobo when it comes out so... anyhow... anyone else have any more input?
