I've looked for hours.
Single E5-4650 in a single or dual processor motherboard sporting C600 chipset series? Is this possible? I can't find ANY motherboard that lists E5-4600 as a compatible processor. The only board I found was a X79 chipset, but I don't want to be limited to 64GB of RAM and I want to use ECC.
I can buy the 4650 for cheaper than I can get the 2680.
Essentially, I'm looking if one of these boards (Newegg search URL) would work, or any other you may know of. I can't find any info on any of SuperMicro, Intel, ASUS, Tyan, or Gigabyte's site saying E5-4600 is supported with a single or dual proc board.
Obviously, I do not want to use a quad board to run 1 processor.
So is anyone using a chip in such a configuration?
