Using Dividers

A divider does nothing more than lower the mhz that your memory is running at. Instead of running at the same speed as your Front Side Bus, it is divided and ran at a slower speed.

Yes there would be a performace difference but that differnece is only because of the lower mhz.

If you do not use a mulitplier, it may be impossible to raise your front side bus because your memory cannot go that fast.

assuming a64's, the above statements are true..
(other than the fsb on the a64 isn't really the fsb anymore. it's technically htt, but yes :p)

the athlonXP incurs a HUGE hit from a divider. avoid it at all costs
the pentium4.. well it's not as bad, but it's pretty bandwidth starved :(
