hey, i was wondering how exactly it goes about testing the setting I put into it, and how I test for stability.

When I hit okay.. will those new settings be implemented until I reboot or something? I don't really understand how that works.

Also, what exactly does auto detect do?

what exactly does auto detect do?

it tests to see how far your video card can handle. mine can handle 523/1.05 but i dont do it since it artifacts. it gets changed next time you boot. there really isnt a test for stability just do a auto detect then lower it about 25-50 mhz behind that. hope it helped ;) .

thanks, yea that helped!

What am I looking for in artifacting anyway... I've heard a few different things. Like wierd pixels showing different colors or like staticy kind of look? I'm totally new to overclocking so any tips and help is appreciated.

i believe there is an option to run your card at the speeds you want when windows starts. So if you have a good stable overclock, it wont reset to stock clock settings when you restart your computer.

haha! this is so cool. I went from 941 3dmarks to 1250!! haha! I didn't notice anything strange like "artifacting" but then again I don't really know what that is. So just as long as I can find out what artifacting is... and I know what to look for I think I can leave it at these settings.

Yea, I saw that setting, but I don't think that I'm going to do that until I'm absolutely sure that there work.

BTW, to get that score, I just set it to auto detect and it did everything for me.

nice...

just to let you know... artifacts are like things like snow and stuff like that. if you see a spot on the screen that doesnt look right, like a white or shiny spot, or it could even be a dot or something, then its an artifact and you might want to underclock it a little bit at that point.

okay, well I just played GTA3 for about an hour with nothing strange happening (not that didn't always happen, because the graphics kind of suck in the game) But for some reason its still pretty daunting on the vid card.

Anyway, I'm very happy with how easy my 1st overclock went so far.
