using cable gateway as wireless router only?

Hello

I have the lynksys WCG200 cable gate way

I'm currently in a new apt just for the summer..

In my new apartment there is a cable model already with one eithernet connection..

is it possible to just connect that cable to one of the eithernet connectors on the router, and just route the internet (wired and wirelessly) that way??

or is the only way this device will work is by actually using the cable modem built into it? the manual doesn't talk about using it this way

Probably not sense it dont have a WAN port.

Think of it as being 2 seperate devices, only its hooked together internally so theres no need for a WAN port.
