Do any of you have experience using this set of tools for incremental backups? We had a contractor come in a few years ago and get it setup, and now he's incommunicado, and I really don't understand the actual process of removing or cleaning up old backups. I understand the concept, but not the actual process.

Currently we have VMs being snapshotted, compressed (qcow) and then Bupp'd to a NAS.

My boss has recommended just grabbing some new disks and pulling the existing array (full) and letting it start building a fresh set of backups... but this seems beyond stupid to me.
