Hello you wonderful and intelligent people that make up this forum. I truly hope you have had a fabulous weekend and that you are happy and healthy.

I am interested in using Bisq to purchase Bitcoins, which is a decentralized peer-to-peer Bitcoin exchange network. I am interested in for instance migrating across from Dropbox to Mega to store my data on the Cloud and using Bitcoins to purchase this. I please kindly wondered can i use a VPN over Bisq please, to mask my personal IP address, would this still work?

Lastly, i have read alot of mention online about setting up your own Node on Bisq i please wondered how this works and would it make the transaction more anonymous, or is this to make the transaction more secure please, for instance so you do not get scammed?

If anyone kindly had any thoughts on this i would be forever thankful and i would be immensely appreciative for your support. My heart would go out to you.

I truly hope you have a very wonderful week ahead and that everything continues to go well for you. Sending you lots of good wishes and i truly hope you have an amazing and wonderful life. With my every best wishes.

I read through your post and deduced two questions from it.
1. If using VPN makes transaction more secured on bisq.
2. The essence of running nodes on bisq, whether to be more private or to avoid scam.

ANSWERS.
1. Bisq already routes it's traffic through Tor. So, your IP is already shielded without VPN. However, VPN can give an extra layer of privacy. But ensure you are using a trusted VPN, else just don't use it.

2. There might be many benefits of running your own nodes on bisq, but I think the most important is to protect the network. By making it more decentralized. The more people run nodes, the more we are sure the network won't be in the hands of a few bad eggs
