When using line in or "what you hear" I have a reduction in audio volume. I can edit the file in wave studio and increase the volume as workaround, but that takes a lot more time. Sound volume recorded from cds is fine--ie much louder than line in recording. My current setup is as follows:
Creative labs soundblaster live value sound card
windows ME
AMD 1.2GHz
256MB RAM
The stereo tuner is plugged directly into the line in jack on the sound card as well as the line out jack. Sound volume and quality of output from the pc is fine.

Thanks.

Are you trying to set the input levels with the playback mixer or the recording mixer?
