I've got an Antec 400w SL400 Smartpower PSU that's been sitting unused for about a year and a half now, and I want to use it in a rig that I'm putting together using old parts I've got laying around. Are these known to go bad over time and is there any way to test it before hooking it up and chancing frying everything?

You could maybe use a paperclip in the 20-pin ATX connector to power things up, but the PSU might want some load on it. What kind of "old" components are we talking about?

Athlon XP 2200, 9800 Pro, 2 optical drives, 1 HDD, couple case fans.
