Would this pose any problem? with my sound card and e-sata card, this the best option without sticking the 2 cards right next to each other. thus possibly making the top card hotter.

It's a P6T, so the solution would be 5850 on top, GTS 512 on the bottom slot, and the 2 add in cards in between them. Just wondering if the 4x PCI-E speed would hinder the physx performance.

Been wondering the same thing, I have that lonely 4x PCI-E slot sitting free in my Abit IP35 Pro and wondering if throwing in a cheap 9600GSO or something would be able to do physics processing.

Yes I have but how much bandwidth does Physx processing require compared to gfx ^^

I'm not exactly sure, but I remember somewhere running physX on Nvidia Cards and running ATi Cards at the same time doesn't mix well.

Same, but did you know our boards support crossfire? Not SLI. Not that it would be worth it at 4x and a 16x.

Yeah I did actually know that our boards supported it but I could never really afford crossfire or SLI and thats why it didn't bother me that it has PCI-E x16 and a PCI-E x4.

I couldn't afford a crossfire setup but what I could afford is a used mid-range Nvidia card that I could throw in that x4 slot to do some physics processing but I'm not sure if the x4 slot would be hindering it.

I just found out they did crossfire. Not SLI. I didn't know that until recently. Hmmm... I'm not sure if I would notice the difference between PhysX and not. I have it enabled though. Any advantages to it being on a dedicated card?

I'm looking at ATi for my next upgrade up from my 8800GT.

Well as of right now there are very few games that support physx and even fewer that support physx done on a dedicated Nvidia card. (Check out physxinfo.com for game compatibility) Anyway I just recently sold my 8800gt (would have kept it for physx but the guy offered me more than it was really worth) and I purchased a 4890 for $130 from the forums here. Due to the lack of games that really need physx processing it isn't really something important to me right now but down the road I could be interested especially if it gets easier to have a ATI card as your main and a Nvidia card as dedicated physx. In the cases where the game does actually support Nvidia Physx and has lots of physics processing to be done the gains can actually be pretty significant. For example there was a link that someone posted a few posts up that shows about a 20fps gain at 1920x1200 maxed out on Batman:AA.
