using AA/AF, in game or driver control settings?

Hi:

Just wondering where people turn on AA/AF from and does it really make a difference.

For example, in Far Cry. if i turn 4xAA in the driver control settings, and have AA off in the game, i should still get 4xAA... correct?

Just wondering
