I just got a shuttle from a guy on eBay, but he forgot to include the power cord. I have a spare cord to an Antec 380 PSU, can I use that to hook it up, or will it give the little 200W shuttle PSU too much juice?

A power cord is a power cord. Any one with the connector on the end (IEC) will work with anything that has that end on it.

Short answer: Yes

yep.................................................................................. and good luck cleaning the smell

Nope, switching mode power supplies, the type used by computer power supplies, only take as much current and power as they need. Another way to look at it is that your computer pulls current from the outlet--current is not "pushed" into the computer from the wall.

that's kinda what I thought

what made me a little hesitant was that I've noticed the numbers on power cords are different

I'm guessing those number are something about how much power the cord can handle...so you wouldn't to use the cord to a 200W PSU to hook up a 500W PSU, but going the other way is OK

Most are 18awg wire (18/3 for you electrical folk) and unless you are going over 10 amps, which is about equal to about 1200watts (which I don't know any single PSU computer that does) you sholdn't have a problem

OMG you're explanations are just confusing the guy

It doesn't matter what power cord you use.
use can use the same cord on a 50w psu or a 600w psu. Makes no difference.
