What do you guys think?
I've been using a 32" LCD HDTV but it's resolution is only 1366x768 (720P). Everything looks so big and nice specially when browsing the internet.

Today I'm getting this:
http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/...FUZA/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail&returnurl=

which is 1920x1080 (1080P)

I was originally thinking on getting a 30" LCD to get the 2560x1600 resolution but it is too much money and requires a bigger video card.

Please give me your recommendations. Thank you.

I read a lot in the internet, some Word, Excel, no gaming, video chatting, some photo, but no professionally.

I was using a 42" tv a main monitor for 3years until 3 day ago, switched to a 32" tv.. and now lmao just got my 30" dell monitor. IT does the work, specially if it's 1080p.

The only problem I got with mine, was some kind of "burning" in the screen. Some desktop icon or wallpaper color would burn in and when playing video they would still be there. But seem like it wasnt defective and after a while it would be gone... So yeah, it's not the best but it work :p

In my 32" TV @ 720P everything looks great, big and I don't get stress on my eyes when reading text. I guess that 32" 1080P will look even better. I'll get it today and report later my impressions.
If any of you guys have a better model in mind please let me know.

I still don't have the money for a 30" LCD computer monitor and a powerful video card.

That Samsung is a little pricey for a 32" 1080P, you can get a high quality 37" for around the same price or less.

Otherwise i'm sure the Samsung will look amazing for desktop use. But the question is will you be doing a lot of multiplayer gaming on your new TV? If so then you'll need something with less input lag than that samsung (it has around 30ms lag in "game mode"). Something like a Panasonic with an IPS alpha panel.

Here are two 32" IPS-A Panasonics:

- L32S1:

- L32U22: Edit: scratch this one, it has high input lag.

Another less expensive LCD that looks good as a monitor is the Toshiba 32RV525R. While it does have higher input lag than the panasonics lots of owners claim it looks great for desktop use.

Sjetski72 - do you have a suggestion for low lag 37" HDTV?

That's something I've always wondered about. Is there a higher lag using a HDTV over a monitor? Something noticeable with first person shooters? I mean the price of a 32" 1080p TV makes them viable for monitors in my opinion.

The effects of input lag are subjective. Some people are more sensitive to the effect than others. Most newer TV's come with some kind of proprietary image processing function built in making them worse than a standard monitor, but most also come with the means to disable all image processing to decrease input lag (usually for the purposes of hooking up a console). My Samsung plasma has an HDMI input that is marked HDMI/DVI. It's a straight video input with no support for sound, designed for use with a PC.

Only a small handful of TV's have low input lag, not to be confused with "response time" which tells only a part of the story, and hence just another useless spec imho.

The Panasonic L32S1 and L37S1, the Sharp LE77UN and LE700UN series, and "likely" the LE67UN series since it shares many of the same parts but i'm not 100% sure of that. Plug those model numbers into Google shopping and Bing shopping to get an idea of what they all cost.

Sharp 40E67UN prices (not 100% sure of this model but some people swear it has low input lag):

Sharp 32LE700UN prices (LED + 120hz):

I have the L32S1 and the thing kicks butt as a monitor for me
. It has some drawbacks but overall for a monitor i like it a lot, and it has very low overall input lag, and i do notice the difference.

Read the first post in this thread for more TV input lag info: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1131464

Thanks,

I was considering getting a plasma g10 as a gaming monitor for my PC, but with the black level problem for 2009 models I had to pass.

I think i'll get their S1 or G1 model IPS lcd.

I have owned both and both were awesome.

Its definitely worth it for using word and excel, I like to snap each running at the same time to both sides of the screen when im workin on stuff. And with that much screen space, its awesome.

Outdated info,

those models now come with AUO VA panels or Chi-Mei VA panels, both have higher input lag and more noticeable motion blur than the original IPS panels they used to come with. The Chi-mei is the worst of the three, the AUO VA panel comes a close second place to the IPS panel but it still has higher input lag.

Long story short: it's a panel lottery, with a very low chance of getting an IPS panel at this point, heck consider yourself lucky if you even get the AUO VA panel.

Only downside is the LH30 series isn't sold in the US anymore (unless you happen to be lucky enough to find it online) and has been replaced with the PVA LH40 series (which has the normal amount of input latency on a regular TV set) which I wouldn't recommend.
