So, i'm expecting my new dell 2007wfp to arrive on monday and i wonder,
will i be able to run 1440x900 full screen on games like oblivion or gothic 3?
I have some 6800gt and native res would kill it on games like those.

How about pixel interpolation on that 1440?
does it look any good or is it too blurry?
i don't want to use 1:1 mapping unless i really have to.

thanx

I tried your native res of 1680x1050 on Oblivion with an x850 XT which for Oblivion is a bit faster than your card. It hitched a bit in cities but it was certainly playable. Personally I'd go with medium textures before using interpolation on your Dell - the muddy effect on your image will be far less with a lower texture pack than what the monitor will do to your image. Interpolation sucks.

I do admit though I hate hitching enough that I play 1:1 at 1280 x 1024 with high details. It uses almost all of the vertical resolution at least - so you are not painfully reminded that you are using 1:1. At least its crisp and beautiful.

thanx a lot for your response.

actually x850xt is quite faster than 6800gt ;)
i was just wondering if 1440 is an option with modern wide 20" screens.
since i've never worked wide before, i think if i had to use some other res than the
native 1680, i'd stick with 1440 (in 1:1 if it looks bad fullscreen) just to have that wide
experience.

Oblivion has native widescreen resolution support....just use the highest widescreen res you can run acceptably and use the 1:1 ratio if that isn't 1680x1050. Here's wishing you a good panel...if you get a good one then there is no other monitor in the price range that can touch it.;)
