• Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.

I've emailed the admins a couple of times but have never gotten a reply.

I'd like to change/shorten my name to "Torque" (I did a search for all posts by user Torque and none showed up, so I assume the name is available).

How can I get this done?

Closest you can get (and it's not guaranteed) is to request that an admin delete your current account, then create a new one.

I am surprised at that, we have a pretty good track record for returning PM's. The answer is that with the amount of members here, about half would like a name change and that wouldn't be possible, so it was made policy years ago not to make name changes unless there was an administrative reason.

you quoted him saying email ....

Wow that's a bummer. I to have PM'd twice and not received a reply. I would like to drop the _NVN off the end of my handle. Someone else has already taken the handle I wanted but I suspect their account is invalid or unused right now. I tried PM'ing them and they never answered... It's to bad the mods don't have time to change these things because now I'm stuck with it for good. :(

Then let's just make in communication.....if you PM/IM/email an admin or mod, you should receive an answer if one is required

I think that it's not that they don't have the time, they just don't do it.

Major is too busy doing B studio porn :p

How about me? :p It's not like my name is even in English (indeed, when I signed up on some other forums using the same software, I was told immediatly to choose a different name because using japane IME caused problems with security, IE, inability to ban, or something like that, which isn't my intention for this nick).

Also, didn't my user account not show up in the Admin control panel somewhere, a long time ago? Or was that for something else?

If you PM Kyle, I'm sure he'll be happy* to make changes for you.

lol, from what i've heard theres a good chance he'll make changes for you...
if there the changes you wanted however is a different story ;)

Over the five years I've been here, I have maybe changed 25 titles total and I think from an Admin standpoint, that would be a bit high. I have assisted members to close old accounts and reopen new ones, but that comes down to sheer want of a change instead of the need for a change. This comes with a loss of postcount and also userid number replaced by the highest, etc.

.....so if you really want a new name, I'll assist you in creating a new account, but you start out as a total n00b....that is the cost ;)

Can't an admin just change someones name with a click of a button and some typing of letters??? I don't see how changing someone name can be so much of a hastle...from my standpoint, it's either a very tedious task or someone's acting lazy...I dunno cause I've never done it before...what actions DO have to take place in order for someone to change their name???

That reminds me of that satelite commercial where the guy stops the sat. guy from getting out of his truck and asking him some questions and at the end he was like "I heard that you can setup someone with a touch of a button" or something like that and the sat. guy says "Yep, but it still costs you [insert overpriced pricetag here]"...lol...

It is a simple procedure in itself, but once repeated thousands of times, becomes tedious.

Well it's not like ppl request it a ton of times everyday...or is it??? And if the person that brags about his/her name change, then you can threaten to change it back to something worse (like if ya request a special rank or whatever they're called)...

You know what .. I really like the fact that we can't change our user names !!

Why ? Do you change your real name every couple of days ? NO ... why ? Communication becomes difficult !! Do I have to ask you for your name everyday ? Just to make sure !!

I am known for my name. If MajorDomo or Kyle or mashie .. or whoever were to change there names every so often then conversations could turn disastrous !!

I'm happy with this strict rule !! Never change names ... I don't wanna talk to a John today who's a Bob tomorrow !!

I don't think the ppl who change their names (well at least the ones *I've* run into) change them just because s/he wants to have a different name...the one's I've run into had a reason other than that...

that's why you pic your real name or your real nickname ... then you don't have to worry about it ever being stupid or inappropriate or whatever

My name is a very popular first name and there's no way I'm giving out my personal info freely for everyone to see...Metallica_Band is my online nickname...I use it for everything so I agree with you on that part...

This would be the Cliff Notes of one of the reasons names aren't changeable. Members like stability and the admin like to be able to keep tabs on the trouble makers. Since this is the answer Torquemada XP was seeking, I consider this a closed issue :)
