Hello, still in the process of building a budget computer.
But I came across this one ad with this specified parts:

Case: Antec 1200
Power Supply: Antec Earthwatts 500W
Motherboard: EVGA nVidia 750i SLI FTW
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 2.66GHz
RAM: 4x1GB OCZ nVidia SLI DDR2 1066MHz
Graphics: 2x XFX 9800GT 512MB DDR3 in SLI
Hard Drive: 1TB Samsung 32MB 5400RPM
Optical Drives: Lite-On CD/DVD Reader
Lite-On CD/DVD Burner
Extras: Hauppage 1800 TV Tuner Card

Now, my budget was around 500~600, and I think I can build a better system brand new with that budget. Am I wrong? I wonder which is the best option, go used or go new.

I can build a budget computer for cheap, but that won't mean it will run like you need it to run :)

I would think it would be pretty hard to build an identical system new for that price. Easiest way is to go to newegg, drop all those parts in a cart, and check your price. I think most if not all of those parts are still available new.

For example, two 9800GTs will likely set you back about $240 new alone. An Antec 1200 is a $160 case on newegg right now.

Why buy a new system based on these specs?
You wouldn't buy 2 9800gt's NOW when a 5850 is a few dollars more.

The OP still hasn't said WHAT he intends to do with the said computer

well I would use it primarily for gaming.
But what I meant by my original post is, I could buy phenom 2 x2 550, 4gb g.skill, asus m4a79xtd, radeon 5770 for a new system around $600 which outperforms that system. So I don't know which would be a better way to go.

well you can spend todays $ on current platforms & technology or on 2 yr old platform thats end of life.
Build new.
