Evga 680i SLI mobo, X6800 @ 2.93 (stock), 2GB Corsair Dominator 6400C4D, Evga 8800GTX, RAID0
OK...my first Nvidia chipset mobo and GPU. I'm not planning any OCing at this point and am a noob with regard to memory timings.
Given that the Corsair memory is SLI/EPP enabled is there any benefit in enabling the SLI/EPP timings of 4-4-4-12-2T@800MHz@2.1v as opposed to the stock memory timings of 5-5-5-18-2T@800MHz@1.9v, even with the stock CPU clock? Any reason not to do it?
Are the EPP/SLI settings considered overclocking? Can these settings result in reduced life of the RAM and is there a reason not to use them? It looks like Corsair rates and warranties using these settings, so I'm just confused as to whether or not I should use them, and whether or not I should expect performance gains over the 5-5-5-18-2T timings without also OCing the CPU.
Any help in understanding would be appreciated. Thanks.
