So I am looking around online for a CCTV surveillance system and I would enjoy it being connected to the internet via our LAN so we can see the video feeds remotely. All the systems under $200, which is my budget for the system+HDD, are not wireless. The systems I'm looking at do have multiple USB ports though, enough for a mouse and a free port. So I was thinking I could just plug in a USB Wifi adapter, connect it to our wifi network, and be set. Then I remembered that they need drivers usually to be set up and work, the CCTV DVR cant support these drivers, so the adapter would need to be plug n play with no drivers. Does such a USB wireless adapter exist? Ive been looking online for some, but I cant really find any reasonably priced or with good ratings. Any suggestions or recommendations?
E: Forgot to mention that the dvr setup will be too far from one of the routers in the house and a long cable run would be needed, probably underneath the house or in the attic until it gets to the section of the house with no attic, so it would be too complicated and cumbersome to do a cable run from a router to the dvr. Another option would get a wireless repeater or bridge to get a connection from the wifi and then connect to the dvr with a cat5 cable.
