Since firewire is faster is there an adapter or cable that can change a usb flashdrive into firewire

exactly. lol. if you use and IDE to sATA adapter, youd still be limited by IDE's speed. same thing here with USB --> FW400. Won't work.

i have a corsair flash voyager that supposedly can read at 30MB/sec but on my pc it only reads at 20MB/sec so i'm assuming it's the usb controller. If I use firewire it would be faster.

Perhaps you could get 30MB/sec advertised speed under ideal conditions and a tightly controlled environment. However, chances are you are getting the best speeds you can get.

If I'm not mistaken, isn't usb 2 faster the firewire? Last time I checked 480>400 mbps

Theoretically, yes. But there are many factors... USB has a lot of overhead, CPU use, etc. USB is faster on paper... but in real life, Firewire is faster.

USB 480 mbps = 60 MBps... has anyone ever got 60 MegaBytes per second out of ANY USB hard drive?

It's all marketing.
