I just got a USB thumb drive and was wondering if there are any other uses besides transfering files.

Makes a nice keyring attachment or necklace. Nerd fashion statement if you like :D . But they are really the only uses apart from transferring files.

a boot image and any tools you want. As long as your computer can boot from a USB device.

hey I have a question about these as well. I am building a new comp (my first) and will need to update the bois immediately (SATA HDD issues) but am not putting in a floppy, is this the way I can do it? If so I am off to get a flash drive (which I have been meaning to get anyway)

Use a CDR, create a bootable cd and put the new BIOS files on it. A usb drive might work, I have never tried it with a usb drive...would be intresting to try though, it should work.
