I bought this San Disk minicruzer USB thumb drive, 256mb, usb 2.0, really small it was $40 after MIR.

Now that I've opened it, one side has this black graphite looking middle strip that feels weak, like it could break.

It lead me to thinking. Is there a USB Thumb Drive with a bomb ass metal case that would withstand Randy Johnson throwing it at all wall? Or is cheap plastic cases how they get you to buy new ones, after you break it.

Thanks!

I got one of those ASUS thumbdrives. I kept forgetting the little connector cover, and the connector was only supported on the PCB by some solder joints, so it broke.

I took the thing apart and fixed the connections, then proceeded to fill the interior with epoxy and reassemble it. It is now probably slightly less durable than a rock, and about as dense. but I don't have to worry about it ever breaking again.

Needless to say, this would void your warranty. :D
