Ok so i googled this to no avail. I recently bought a external enclousre that would house a normal IDE hard drive then connect via USB to my computer and let me use it as a drive. So i took a 200G IDE Segate Raptor and formated it by removing a current drive in my computer and connecting it my mother board (as i couldnt figure out how to format it over the usb cause my computer wasnt seeing it) once formated windows saw it fine , so i figured now it should work. It didnt. I hooked it back up to the enclosure and windows wont reconize it. the manual says it dosnt require any drivers. Its a Privilege USB 2.0 3.5 inch enclosure. and i just cant seem to get it too work.

Any suggestions? any help would be awesome thanks

Do you have it powered? All of the external enclosures I've ever seen, with the exception of 2.5 enclosures, need some form of power. Also, does your enclosure require any specific jumper settings on your drive? Other than those two things, it sounds like you've got a bum enclosure.

yes it has power.

as for the jumper i wasnt entirly sure (cause the manual didnt say) so i put it on Cable Select , seemed like a good idea at the time.

i guess i could try primary...

Alright it works , i changed it from cable select to Master , thanks for the idea
